Sondo emerged from ILT Education, a Swedish educational technology company established in 1990. ILT Education contributed to creating the Sondo library in 2019, recognizing digital tools could significantly aid students with reading difficulties. This initiative expanded ILT Education's services, especially in France, addressing the need for tailored, dyslexia-friendly reading solutions.

The platform primarily serves students facing reading challenges, including those with dyslexia, and their educators.
