Sean Dempsey

Sean Dempsey is a Co-Founder and General Partner at Merus Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm based in Palo Alto, California. Before establishing Merus Capital in 2007, he served as a Director in the Corporate Development group at Microsoft, where he led numerous strategic acquisitions and investments. During his tenure at Microsoft, Dempsey was responsible for evaluating enterprise software markets and deploying capital across various technology sectors, contributing to the company's broader expansion strategy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, Environment, and Politics, alongside a minor in French, from Claremont McKenna College. Throughout his career as an institutional investor, he has managed multiple fund vehicles and partnered with dozens of founding teams. His current investment focus centers on early-stage enterprise software startups, leveraging his corporate acquisitions background to guide emerging companies.
