Metalab Ventures operates as the dedicated investment arm stemming from the renowned product design firm Metalab. It primarily invests in product-led startups, offering capital alongside deep expertise in strategy, design, and technology. The venture arm leverages Metalab’s extensive experience in crafting digital products, aiming to back companies where exceptional product development is a core differentiator, providing both financial and human capital support.

The venture arm launched in April 2024, originating from the design firm Metalab, which was founded in 2006 by serial entrepreneur Andrew Wilkinson. Over nearly two decades, Metalab consistently partnered with startups, acting as co-founders in product development. This consistent demand from founders for investment led Metalab’s CEO, Luke Des Cotes, and Head of Partnerships, David Tapp, to formalize this support into Metalab Ventures, a structured investment process.

Metalab Ventures targets pre-seed, seed, and Series A stage product-led startups that recognize the strategic importance of design. The firm's vision is to act as a long-term value investor, partnering with its portfolio companies for extended periods, typically 10 to 12 years. By deploying its specialized workforce and insights, Metalab Ventures seeks to empower these businesses to achieve their full potential through superior product experiences.
