GrainInnovate is a venture capital fund that invests in early-stage agtech startups developing technologies to boost the profitability and sustainability of Australian grain growers. The fund operates with A$50 million in total capital, comprising A$25 million from the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) as a cornerstone investor and an equal contribution from Artesian Venture Partners, which also manages the fund's operations. GrainInnovate actively sources investment opportunities from both Australia and internationally, leveraging its extensive networks, incubators, and referrals to identify promising seed-stage ventures with potential for co-investment. Its strategic portfolio focuses on innovations addressing critical aspects of grain profitability and environmental stewardship, including advanced soil management solutions, such as those offered by FarmLab, and novel plant-based food production from waste, exemplified by Whole Green Foods. The fund's objective is to generate financial returns through its strategic investments while fostering technological advancements within the agtech sector.
