Formation Capital is an Atlanta, Georgia-based private investment firm focused on opportunistic equity investments within the senior living, skilled nursing, and broader healthcare sectors. The firm manages private funds and partners directly with operating companies to acquire, build, renovate, and optimize undervalued healthcare assets, including hospice, rehabilitation, pharmacy, and housing for the developmentally disabled. Throughout its operational history, the firm has executed several large-scale institutional transactions, including a notable $1.4 billion sale of 186 nursing facilities to GE Healthcare Financial Services and a $620 million acquisition of Tandem Health Care. Furthermore, the Formation Capital team has participated in major industry bids involving prominent operators like Genesis HealthCare, while recently expanding its investment scope to include emerging healthcare technology ventures that improve patient outcomes. The private investment organization was originally founded in 1999 by Arnold Whitman.
