FONGIT is a private non-profit foundation based in Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland, that incubates and accelerates early-stage technology startups across the information and communications technology, advanced engineering, and life sciences sectors. Operating out of a dedicated 5,000-square-meter facility, the organization provides entrepreneurs with strategic coaching, administrative support, and direct seed financing to de-risk the commercialization of new technologies. The incubator currently supports an active portfolio of more than 200 Swiss startups that have collectively raised over CHF 1 billion in external financing. Notable companies that have participated in the foundation's programs include Proton Technologies, Anteis, and Selexis, the latter of which was acquired by JSR Life Sciences. Led by Managing Director Antonio Gambardella, FONGIT was established in 1991 with financial backing from the State of Geneva, though its original individual founders are not publicly documented.
FONGIT has 7 tracked investments across 6 companies. The latest tracked deal is $2.0M Seed in Terapet in February 2023.
