ESIL is an Environmental Sustainability Innovation Lab focused on accelerating and commercializing early-stage climate tech startups. The organization delivers economically viable technology solutions that facilitate a socially just transition to a NetZero world, specifically connecting global sustainability needs with innovative Israeli technological capabilities. ESIL operates as a dynamic ecosystem designed to foster and scale breakthrough sustainable innovations.

The lab was established through a partnership between industry leaders EDF Renewables, Johnson Matthey, and Bazan Group, launching around late 2019 and early 2020. This collaboration emerged from the collective insight that a dedicated platform was crucial to channel and develop sustainable technologies. The founding partners recognized the urgent need to invest in and support solutions addressing environmental protection and sustainability challenges on a global scale.

ESIL primarily serves early-stage Israeli startups in critical areas such as clean energy and advanced materials production, providing them with resources and guidance. The company’s long-term vision is to be a pivotal force in the sustainable innovation landscape, empowering ventures that will ultimately contribute to a comprehensive, equitable shift towards a NetZero global economy.
