Divergent Capital is a New York-based venture capital firm that invests in pre-seed stage startups developing cutting-edge technologies across artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and robotics. The firm focuses on high-conviction deep tech investments, typically writing initial checks ranging from $250,000 to $750,000 to support technical founders solving complex industry problems. Actively deploying capital from its initial fund, the organization targets a concentrated portfolio of 20 to 25 companies and currently manages between eight and twelve active investments. Divergent Capital has backed several emerging technology companies, participating in recent funding rounds such as a $10 million Series A financing for Baton. Additional portfolio companies include Paterna Biosciences, PHNX Materials, and Motif Neurotech, which have all recently secured multi-million dollar seed investments.
