Beta Capital

Beta Capital is an independent venture capital firm based in Porto, Portugal, that invests in early-stage technology startups from the initial proof-of-concept phase through to global scaling. The firm typically writes initial equity checks ranging from €250,000 to €1 million per investment and currently manages a portfolio of seven active companies across two closed funds. Operating with a strict focus on sustainability and responsible investment principles, the firm targets diverse European sectors including artificial intelligence, healthcare, biotechnology, software-as-a-service, and logistics. Beta Capital has backed several notable portfolio companies, including hospitality technology provider Nonius, which grew to serve over 850 customers before a successful management buyout, as well as recent additions Zen8, Delox, and Azitek. The venture capital organization was officially founded in 2003 by co-founder and current chief executive officer Roberto Branco.
