Tim Draper

Tim Draper is the Founder and Managing Partner of Draper Associates, an early stage venture capital firm based in Silicon Valley, USA. Coming from a four generation family of venture capitalists that began with General William H. Draper in 1957, he initially founded Draper Associates in 1985 using funds from the United States SBIC program before co-founding Draper Fisher Jurvetson in the 1990s. Throughout his career, Draper has made over 50 seed stage investments in unicorn companies, backing prominent technology enterprises such as Tesla, SpaceX, Skype, Baidu, and Coinbase. In 2015, he opened Draper Associates to outside limited partners for the first time to expand his investment strategy, while also operating educational initiatives like Draper University. His current focus centers on providing seed capital to global technology startups operating across software, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and cryptocurrency sectors.
