Over his forty-year career, he has guided more than thirty companies to successful exits, backing notable cybersecurity and enterprise firms such as Mandiant, ArcSight, Chegg, and LifeLock. At Ballistic Ventures, he recently helped close a $360 million second fund in 2024 to target early-stage cybersecurity startups. Schlein holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, previously chaired the National Venture Capital Association, and serves on the Board of Trustees for In-Q-Tel. His current focus remains centered on identifying and scaling next-generation cybersecurity infrastructure and enterprise software technologies.
