Steve Streit is the founder and lead partner at SWS Venture Capital, based in Pasadena, California. Prior to his current role, he founded Green Dot Corporation in 1999 and served as its chief executive officer until his retirement at the end of 2019. Under his leadership, the financial technology firm expanded to serve more than 50 million customers, generated over $1 billion in annual revenue, and completed a 2010 initial public offering that valued the business at $1.8 billion. During his tenure, Streit pioneered the prepaid debit card industry and established major banking-as-a-service partnerships with corporate entities including Walmart and Apple. He previously served as a board member for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco's Los Angeles branch, and his current venture capital focus centers on early-stage investments in financial technology and alternative banking solutions.
