Simon Segars is an Executive Advisor at Black Opal Ventures and the Chair of Silicon Quantum Computing. He joined Arm Holdings in 1991 as its 16th employee, where he developed the ARM7 and ARM9 processor families before serving as Chief Executive Officer from 2013 to 2022. During his tenure as CEO, Segars oversaw the company's £24.3 billion acquisition by SoftBank Group in 2016 and scaled the business into the United Kingdom's largest semiconductor intellectual property firm. He currently holds non-executive director positions at Dolby Laboratories and Vodafone Group, and advises Permira alongside his work with Black Opal Ventures' $58 million health-tech fund. Segars holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Sussex and a Master of Science from the University of Manchester. His career focuses on semiconductor innovation, processor architecture, and strategic venture investing.
