Robert Kim is the co-founder and CEO of Laminar, an open-source AI observability platform based in San Francisco. Before founding the six-person startup in 2024, he completed software engineering internships at Palantir, where he developed a semantic search package for internal AI teams, and at Bloomberg, where he scaled market tick processing pipelines. He studied at KAIST alongside his co-founder Din Mailibay before participating in Y Combinator's Summer 2024 cohort. Under his leadership, Laminar's open-source project has accumulated nearly 2,000 GitHub stars and secured a $3 million seed round backed by Atlantic.vc, Y Combinator, OpenTelemetry co-creator Ben Sigelman, and Supabase CTO Ant Wilson. Kim currently focuses on building developer tools and infrastructure to support the debugging and evaluation of complex LLM applications and browser-based AI agents for enterprise customers like OpenHands and Browser Use.
