Michael Wee

Michael Wee is the Co-Head of Portage Web3 at Portage Ventures, based in San Francisco, California. Assuming this leadership role in 2022, he manages team building, investment processes, sourcing, diligence, and post-investment support for the venture capital firm. Before joining Portage, he served as a Product Manager at Coinbase, where he founded the NFT Marketplace and directed cryptocurrency payments for Coinbase Commerce. Previously, Wee worked as an investor at Andreessen Horowitz, focusing on capital deployment across cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, developer tools, and enterprise software startups. His earlier career includes software engineering positions at Microsoft, Intuit, and OpenGov, alongside earning a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Today, Wee utilizes his technical engineering foundation and product management expertise to support early-stage founders building decentralized infrastructure, Web3 products, and emerging software applications.
