Matt Murphy is a Partner at Menlo Ventures based in Menlo Park, California. Before joining the firm, he served as a Corporate Vice President at Microsoft, where he oversaw Azure sales and customer success, following earlier leadership roles at Salesforce and Battery Ventures. At Menlo Ventures, which manages over $5.8 billion in assets under management, he has directed capital into enterprise and artificial intelligence companies, including Databricks, Carta, and Samsara, which completed its initial public offering in 2021. Recognized consecutively on the Forbes Midas List from 2020 to 2024, he recently led a $100 million Series B investment in the AI vector database provider Pinecone in 2024. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Duke University, Murphy currently focuses his investment strategy on high-growth startups operating across enterprise software, cybersecurity, and machine learning infrastructure.
