Mark Cupta is a Managing Director at Prelude Ventures, a climate-focused venture capital firm based in San Francisco, California. Prior to joining the firm in 2013, he held technical and commercial roles at Celanese Corporation and worked with Chevron's solar investment team at Terawatt Ventures. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in chemical and biomolecular engineering from Georgia Tech, as well as an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Cupta currently manages an active portfolio of more than 12 early-stage climate technology companies and serves on the boards of Boston Metal, Citrine Informatics, and Zapata Computing. Throughout his career, he has authored several technical patents and publications covering microelectronics, engineered polymers, and pharmaceutical delivery systems. His current investment focus centers on applying emerging technologies and materials science to decarbonize global energy-intensive and resource-heavy industries.
