Jay Chia

Jay Chia is the Co-Founder of Eventual, a distributed computing startup developing the open-source Daft dataframe, and is currently based in San Francisco, California. Previously, he worked as a machine learning infrastructure engineer at Lyft Level 5 and Freenome, where he built large-scale data and computing platforms for the autonomous driving and biotechnology sectors. Before transitioning to technical engineering roles in the United States, Chia served as the Head of Recruiting for an unnamed unicorn technology startup located in Singapore. He also spent two years operating as a tank commander in the Singapore Armed Forces before earning his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, where he conducted academic research in deep learning and computational biology. His current professional focus centers on advancing machine learning infrastructure and distributed data engineering solutions for complex, enterprise-scale software applications.
