David Cahn

David Cahn is a Partner at Sequoia Capital based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before joining the firm in 2023, he spent five years at Coatue Management, becoming General Partner and Chief Operating Officer in 2022 to lead its venture capital business. Across both funds, he directed early-stage investments into artificial intelligence and developer tools, securing board seats at Weights & Biases and Repl.it while backing startups like Runway, HuggingFace, and Supabase. The University of Pennsylvania graduate has also worked on major enterprise software portfolios involving public and private companies such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Notion. He has recently authored analytical research memos, including a June 2024 report evaluating the $600 billion capital expenditure requirements of the global generative artificial intelligence market. Cahn currently focuses on funding foundational cloud infrastructure and enterprise software ventures.
