Chris Malachowsky is a co-founder and NVIDIA Fellow based in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he advises the company's core engineering, product, and research operations to advance artificial intelligence. Before establishing the $3 trillion semiconductor firm alongside Jensen Huang and Curtis Priem in 1993, he held technical leadership positions at Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Santa Clara University. As a co-inventor of the Graphics Processing Unit, he eventually secured nearly forty U.S. patents in integrated circuit design while helping transform the startup into a global computing leader. In November 2023, the University of Florida officially opened the Malachowsky Hall for Data Science and Information Technology following his $50 million philanthropic donation to the institution.
