Brian Wallach

Brian Wallach is the Co-founder of I AM ALS and an Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, based in Chicago, Illinois. Before his November 2017 ALS diagnosis, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Illinois from 2014 to 2018 and worked as Senior Vetting Counsel in the Obama White House between 2011 and 2013. He holds a BA from Yale University and a JD from the Georgetown University Law Center. Through his advocacy organization, he spearheaded efforts leading to the 2021 passage of the ACT for ALS, unlocking hundreds of millions of dollars for neurodegenerative disease research. Recently featured in a 2024 Prime Video documentary, Wallach currently focuses on driving public policy changes to accelerate FDA approvals and secure funding for experimental healthcare treatments.
