Based in Brookline, Massachusetts, Fancred is a mobile social networking application that enables sports fans to communicate, share photos, post thoughts, and stream live video during live sporting events. Before ceasing independent operations, the pre-revenue company successfully scaled its iOS platform to 100,000 active users, with American football enthusiasts comprising 75 percent of its dedicated user base. Emerging from the Boston Techstars accelerator program, the startup raised $4.5 million in total venture capital funding from notable investors including Atlas Ventures, Militello Capital, Breakaway Innovation Group, and Linda Pizzuti Henry. After expanding to 11 full-time employees, the company shut down in late 2015 due to an inability to secure additional financing and was subsequently acquired by Football Nation in 2016 to serve as its official mobile application. Fancred was originally founded in 2012 by former Brightcove employee Kash Razzaghi.
