Biotalys

Biotalys is an agricultural technology company based in Ghent, Belgium, that develops protein-based biocontrol solutions to protect crops from pests and diseases. Utilizing its proprietary AGROBODY technology platform, the firm creates targeted alternatives to conventional chemical pesticides for the global food and agriculture value chain. The publicly traded company employs approximately 70 to 100 people and successfully raised €52.8 million during its July 2021 initial public offering on Euronext Brussels, following €61 million in prior private equity funding. To scale and commercialize its biofungicide pipeline, including its lead product candidate Evoca, the enterprise has secured strategic partnerships and financial grants involving prominent organizations such as Syngenta, Novozymes, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Biotalys was originally founded in 2013 as a corporate spin-off from the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology, also known as VIB.
