Based in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, Altiostar Networks develops 4G and 5G open virtualized radio access network software that enables mobile operators to build scalable, cloud-native networks using standard commercial off-the-shelf hardware. Prior to its 2021 corporate acquisition, the enterprise software company raised over $357 million in venture funding to support the global deployment of its telecommunications infrastructure solutions. The firm secured strategic equity investments from major technology corporations including Cisco Systems, while supplying its proprietary network technology to prominent telecommunications operators such as Dish Network and Telefónica. In August 2021, Rakuten Group acquired the remaining shares of the telecommunications business for $314 million, valuing the total enterprise at over $1 billion, and subsequently integrated its operations into the Rakuten Symphony division. Altiostar Networks was founded in 2011 by Ashraf Dahod, who previously established Starent Networks.
