AEPONYX

Based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, AEPONYX designs and manufactures photonic integrated circuits and micro optical switch semiconductor chips that combine silicon nitride photonics with micro-electro-mechanical systems. The company's hardware enables precise light control and data transmission for telecommunications, 5G network operators, life sciences, and high-performance computing infrastructure. Prior to its strategic exit, the enterprise operated with a 27-person team and secured $22 million in venture funding to commercialize its proprietary optical components. AEPONYX received financial backing from institutional investors including BDC Capital, Fonds de solidarité FTQ, and Investissement Québec before being acquired by neutral-atom quantum computing company Pasqal in June 2025. Following the transaction, the subsidiary integrated its intellectual property into Pasqal to accelerate the development of fault-tolerant quantum hardware systems. The company was founded in 2012 by François Ménard, Philippe Babin, and Martin Goulet.
